Nicholas Welter married Clara Mathias on 17 Apr 1866 at St. Nicholas Church in Frenchtown, Ohio. He resigned from the railroad to farm Clara's land. Nicholas was Clara's second husband. Her first husband was Peter Arend.

Clara was the daughter of Lewis Mathias and Clara Feck. She was the first American born Mathias.

Catherine married Frank X. Wagner on 27 May 1890. She caught diphtheria from her doctor while giving birth to her son Alfred. Her doctor had just been with a diphtheria patient prior to delivering her son.

Rose married Matthew Charles Clancy on 19 Aug 1895. They had seven children: Marie, Luella, Matthew E., James, Rose M., John and Robert. (A great deal of the information on our Welter ancestors for this website has been taken from "The Memoirs of Our Family" by Father Matthew Clancy.)
